The environment is a big topic of conversation and if pregnant, you have probably heard of reusable nappies but have you heard of reusable breast pads?
Reusable breast pads are made from natural fibres, which allows better air circulation and less irritation - handy if you are suffering from sore nipples. Disposable pads are made from synthetic material that contain chemicals to make them absorbant, like disposable nappies. These chemicals would be directly touching the skin and combined with the sticky back to them can inhibit air circulation and create more irritation.
Yes reusable pads will need washing regulalry and you will need a few of them (how many is dependant on how much leakage you have) but you could end up buying a huge amount of disposable breast pads post pregnancy, which could end up costing quite a bit.
It all comes down to personal preference but understanding the pro's and con's for both can only be a good thing!
My own experience is beautifully captured in the photo 😁 A friend kindly gave me a box she didn't need but I only used disposable breast pads for a few days and switched to reusable ones. Mainly because I didn't like the feel of disposable ones on my skin...and because I kept losing them!
